It's time I came clean, so I'm trusting you not to laugh (or to laugh and accept it anyway)
Since January I have been 1/4 of a Harry Potter related youtube channel.....yes, that's right. Things you didn't know about me, blog.
Anyway, for those of you who are interested in reading the rest of this blog, and do not know how a collaboration channel works:
There are four of us. We are (or were) strangers. We all like Harry Potter a bit too much. We all spend way too much time on youtube and enjoy video blogging. We each have to make and upload one video per week, on our specified day. We each represent one of the four Hogwarts houses and earn house points for various things in our videos. Yes....I'm gonna go ahead and let you digest this for a minute...
It sounds weird and lame, I know, but its strange how quickly communities can be forged and relationships created over the internet. The great thing about connecting with strangers through youtube is that you CAN see who you're taking to on the other end. The three girls I speak to on a weekly basis live on the other side of the world (two in the USA and one in the UK) and sometimes I feel as if I know them, and many other people I've met through youtube better than most of the people I spent five years of highschool with, and called my friends. I don't know whether this says more about me or my friends
As most of the people who read this blog are my friends from highschool, this confession is a little embarrassing. Maybe they feel that they don't really know me either. I don't exactly like to tell people every little detail of my life (despite how this blog might seem sometimes) and in many cases my relationships with my friends seem to be entirely based upon jokes and sexual innuendo. It's impossible to really know someone if your relationship ends there. I guess my point is that there are so few people in this world that I feel I really connect with and most of these people I have met through youtube. If I feel I can connect with someone on the other side of the world through a four or five minute video once a week and a read of their blog more than I've connected with people I saw everyday for five years....well then, either there's something very wrong with me, or I need new friends.
Sorry for writing a novel and getting so serious, I really did not intend to. If you care here's the youtube channel I belong to: The Potter Project
Oh, and a video that made me proud to be a nerd: Tik Tok (Ke$ha) parody - Nerd by Travi$
